About Us
Jason Picklesimer
My grandparents, Dan and Connie Standifer, met during WWII and settled in New York after the war. Dan worked in masonry and steel in New York until he moved his family to Alabaster, Alabama. There, he worked with his brothers at Standifer Brothers Construction, shaping the early development of Shelby County. He later founded D & D Contractors, building commercial and industrial projects, including the first filtration system at the Suluria cotton mill. After Dan’s passing in 1976, my uncle, David “Spud” Bishop, took over the company and contributed to Shelby County’s growth for 40 years.
In 1995, after high school, I joined my uncle, starting at the bottom and learning the business. After working for Milam & Company, I started my own company in 2001 with two carpenters, growing it to over 60 employees. My wife Anna handles the finances, and our sons Garrett and Wyatt are expanding our civil construction division.
In 2023, we had the honor of purchasing Wayne Davis Construction, a well-respected company founded in 1977. Brad Davis, who took over the company after his father’s passing, passed the torch to us as he took a position with Shelby County. With the legacy of both our family and Wayne Davis Construction, we now operate a five-division company focusing on commercial, industrial, and civil construction. We’re excited about the future and grateful for the support we’ve received.

Brad Davis
Brad graduated from Montevallo High School in 1994. He went on to graduate from the University of Montevallo in 1998. Brad and his wife JiJi have four daughters Graci, Avery, Bradli, and Carter. Brad is the Fire Chief with Montevallo Fire & Rescue.

A little history...
In 1977 after working for several years in the construction industry, Wayne Davis realized his goal of owning a construction business with establishing Wayne Davis Construction, and thus began the legacy which has continued for over thirty years.
Wayne had a passion for building and working with people. He strived to produce a quality product for his customers at a fair price. Customer satisfaction was an integral part of his business and the main reason for its longevity.
The business was important to Wayne, but his faith and his family were more important. He incorporated his talent for building and service by leading several building projects for Montevallo First Baptist Church. While serving as a deacon for many years, he served as Chairman of the Building Committee and worked on mission projects that utilized his skill as a builder. Wayne also thought he should use his business to help other churches complete projects, and so he worked with several churches in the area.
Serving as a Little League coach for the teams of sons, Todd and Brad, Wayne not only was able to spend time with them, but also touch the lives of many other young men. He always emphasized integrity, sportsmanship, and giving your best. As his sons reached high school, he was president of the Athletic Booster Club for Montevallo High School.
Wayne considered service as a privilege. He helped establish Shelco, the first rescue service in Shelby County. Working with Shelco, he assisted with rescue and fire calls for many years. Later Wayne served on the Zoning Board for the City of Montevallo. He cared for the city and wanted to see it grow.
On January 24, 2006, Wayne lost his hard-fought battle with cancer. He would be so proud that through his sons, Brad and Todd, Wayne Davis Construction (WDC) continues to uphold the principles that guided his personal and professional life.
